Wallingford Methodist Church

The Boys' Brigade & Girls' Association (BBGA) aim to run a fun and varied programme, incorporating games, craft, Christian content (relevant to the specific age group) and activities to encourage Boys and Girls to think about the world around them. Boys' and Girls' work in these areas to earn badges.

2025/26 has been a very successful year. 

Our membership has grown from 28 (incl. staff) to 58 (incl. 15 staff).  Every age group has seen an increase plus new staff.  We welcome Harriett to assist Ben with Anchors and Nicky to assist with Juniors. Plus parents Phil (helping with Kayaking and maintenance of the minibus and Kayaks) and Graham with Kayaking.

Our Young Chess teams...

...made it through to the England National Master teams Chess Final! In the Junior International Team games we came 48th & 143rd out of almost 300 teams!

AWARDS and Training...

...5 members have gained the Paddle UK Paddle start award. Garry has qualified as a Paddle Sport Leader and we have 18 members working toward other awards.

Most members are now 'Prevent' Trained.  Ben is taking 'Company Management' Training along with the usual 'Safeguarding' and 'Neurodiversity' training.

The Anchors...

...were also very active which included a session of 'Random Act of Kindness' where they chose people to give a £5 Lidl voucher to.  

Our Charity for 2026...is Medicinema

A charity that provides cinema to children in hospital.  A charity used by one of our members.

The BBGA...

...is financed through weekly subscriptions (subscriptions can also be paid termly or annually, which work out slightly cheaper over the year if they are regularly attending).

To allow new attendees to work out whether BBGA is for them, we offer the first week subscription free.

The BBGA is a Uniformed organisation.
Most parents join the uniform club, for a one off £10 the BBGA then provide all the uniform that is required. After leaving, if the uniform is returned in a useable condition the £10 is refunded.

Activities
The BBGA provide activities on the River on Mondays between Easter and October for those over the age of 8.
